Shoulder injuries

Shoulder injuries are common among athletes and workers with overhead or/and repetitive upper-extremity activities. Understanding the basic physiological and clinical manifestations of shoulder injury is of primary interest at PMR-C. External and internal impingement, and non-specific neck/shoulder pain are all conditions with different etiology in sport and physically demanding jobs. Different interventions including operative procedures and exercises are primary treatments for these conditions. At PMR-C, important aspects of different shoulder injuries and pathology will be investigated with the aim of developing optimal rehabilitative strategies for the most important differential diagnoses. In order to do so, our understanding of differential diagnoses, etiology, and neuromuscular adaptations to injury and rehabilitation needs to be improved.
